Most credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, etc.) are accepted in Belize at major retailers. You can withdraw cash directly from ATMs in the main cities (San Ignacio, Belize City, Hopkins, Placencia, etc.). Similarly, ATMs are available on the islands of Caye Caulker and Ambergris Caye.

However, you should plan to carry cash for stays on more remote islands such as Tobacco Caye, South Water Caye, or when staying in the Rio Bravo reserve, for example.

Note that euros are very difficult to exchange here—it's better to arrive with US dollars in cash or plan to use your credit card on site.
