Formalities if Transiting Through the United States

While Europeans are exempt from visa requirements for US transit, it is mandatory to apply for an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) no later than 72 hours before your departure. This online form costs approximately 15 USD and is available on the official US government website: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/

Also, plan a flight with a minimum 4-hour layover in case of US transit, as immigration procedures can be time-consuming.
